Yes. There's consumerism here.
But there's a level of love in a numerous sphere.

You gotta dig beneath the corporate levels of entertainment.
And below all of the raiment is a meaningful statement -

You take this druidic paganistic element of celebration
tie it to a baby king of the Jewish Persuasion.

You get a whole craze sweeping the nation.
You getting families too impatient for their two week vacation.

Yeah, and if you're working then you're automated
into White Elephant, or Secret Santa obligated.

You probably hate it, cause your paycheck isn't big enough
for friends, family now co-workers, man it's frickin' tough.

But despite it all I still love it.
This appeal that I feel, I know I'm real lucky

Cause if you have others - in your life to bear it with.
Christmas can be corny but fun for those you share it with.

Carolers and they're singing in the streets and
Twinkling of the ornaments they're blinking on the tree, now
I don't mind the cold in the air
I got a pot of hot chocolate I'm hoping to share

It's the little things I like about it.
Family all around only time I don't mind it crowded.
Usually I'm a cynic
But when Christmas is here, it's the spirit I get in it.

Home Alone on the tele.
And I got a gallon of eggnog up in my belly.

And it's silly but it's really true.
The holidays are jolly when you have others to feel it too.

I know that parking at the mall gets overloaded
But it's worth it when the smell of Cinnabon hits your noses

And it's cold when you're going for a tree, toes frozen
But looks like a miracle, when lit up in your home.

Whether secular or not, advertised or a sponsorship
Reason for the season goes beyond the conglomerate

It's about you, and your present company.
The memories you make are the presents if you're wondering
